RUNNNN!!
A downloadable project
RUNNNN!! was created from the prompt "Everything has a cost" for a showcase event along with many other animations. The project was done by the A-Team, the members of the team are Corben, Colby, and Sebastian.
It started with a prompt that would narrow down our ideas heavily, we had come up with the idea that it ends in the planet would explode, we would then have an idea that whoever the main characters are, they would drop a bomb to destory something, but the bomb would end up being way too big and just blowing up the whole planet instead of what they wanted to blow up.
The story would develop as we're working on the scenes, as we needed a backstory as to why the chatacters are blowing up a factory, the sci-fi/Star Wars inspired settings, characters, and other models had come from having scenes already made, which were the opening scene with the ship flying towards the planet, and the 2nd to last scene where the planet starts to explode and sink into itself.
The backstory shown in the opening text scroll had no planning, just made up on the spot during the building of the scene as we needed to clarify why a bomb is dropping on a factory in the first place, everything else is explained when watching the animation
The scene planning and building started with 12 shots of just the most important things, the factory and planet exploding, the explosion making it's way towards the soldiers running to find any place of safety. But as we had finished all of these scenes, we watched it back and realized that the story felt empty, that it was missing a lot of context, we didn't have the scene where the timer bomb drops onto the factory originally and it was a scene we had to build and animate in the final week of production.
In the final week of production, right before we had to go into the post-production stage, and creating this web page, we had to add and fix multiple scenes (which even went into the post-production stage), a few ended up being too dark and having little lighting on the models, just in the backgound. We had to rush these scenes because of a horrible time crunch that we had only realized after we watched the animation all the way through.
